Mountain Pass: A Nimble Spray Rig Handles the Tough Landscape of Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains

With its breathtaking nature views and nearby family attractions like Dollywood and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum, it’s no wonder that the Great Smoky Mountains are the centerpiece of the most-visited national park in the nation. Nestled in the heart of the Smokies near Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Hearthside Cabin Rentals takes advantage of the spectacular landscape by maintaining over 100 rustic getaway lodgings. When the cabins, which are owned privately and managed by Hearthside, underwent an expansion in 2012, management didn’t leave any stone unturned when it came to utilizing the best materials available to make the new additions as comfortable as possible for future guests. A major factor in facilitating such comfort was an application of spray polyurethane foam insulation, but the logistics of applying the foam would prove to be difficult. The cabins’ construction was spurred by one owner’s decision to build 60 new units, with some having as many as a dozen bedrooms and features such as multiple fireplaces and movie theatres. Not only would the cabins need to be visually appealing with the extensive use of pinewood and marble countertops, but they also needed to maintain a comfortable temperature in consideration of their location in the mountains. This would require both an efficient heating system and the insulation to complement it.
