DELTA Coatings Sets New Standards in Waterproofing with Expert Solutions

Twenty-one years ago, DELTA Coatings International opened its doors in Dubai, with its focus on protective coatings and waterproofing solutions. Since then, DELTA Coatings has manufactured best-in-class polyurea and polyaspartic solutions for clients across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and worldwide.

Today, DELTA Coatings is both an award-winning, independent coatings system house and a turnkey waterproofing project specialist. The company provides polyurea-based liquid linings, coatings and waterproofing solutions for a range of challenging projects globally, including lagoons and water parks, residential and commercial projects, and large-scale desalination, water reservoir and wastewater treatment plants. In addition, DELTA offers customized solutions for corrosion, abrasion, and impact protection.

The company continues to enjoy growth: DELTA Coatings is currently building a new state-of-the-art global headquarters and manufacturing plant at Dubai Industrial City (DIC), which will be partially powered by an extensive solar energy farm on the plant’s roof.

Key Markets

DELTA Coatings has historically focused on its home markets in the UAE and the Middle East, recently establishing a new office in Saudi Arabia under the leadership of local industry expert, Alaa Saeed, while its international fly-in, fly-out team oversees projects spanning Hong Kong, the Philippines, Pakistan, New Zealand and further afield.

With an established presence in South Africa headed by Noel Abendroth and existing partnerships in India, DELTA Coatings has recently expanded into Asia. The new operation, headquartered in Vietnam, is headed by regional director Tien Mai and will service the rapidly growing Southeast Asian markets. At the same time, the company has set its sights on growth in Egypt with the recent appointment of Ahmed Asal in Cairo and is also finalizing plans to open offices in South and North America.

Symons observed that DELTA Coatings is experiencing significant growth across all its markets, with Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and India standing out due to booming construction and infrastructure projects and rising awareness of polyurea-based waterproofing solutions for their exceptional durability. “In Saudi Arabia, the surge in activity driven by Saudi Vision 2030 projects presents tremendous opportunities for the company to support this expansion with its fully customized, hot- and cold-cured polyurea products, delivering unmatched waterproofing performance,” he added.

The planned opening of DELTA Coatings’ new plant and Center of Excellence has coincided with the recent appointment of qualified chemist Nilesh Panchal as its new head of research and development. With more than 13 years’ experience at Covestro, a key upstream supplier of raw materials to DELTA Coatings, Panchal has already worked on hundreds of successful projects alongside DELTA over the past decade, cementing a strong collaborative relationship. “With his expertise, Nilesh will head DELTA Coatings new laboratory being built and his efforts will focus on addressing customer needs and the growing demand for advanced polyurea-based solutions within the major infrastructure projects DELTA undertakes worldwide, as well as expanding its growing DELTAShield product range,” Symons noted.

In preparation for its the move to the new headquarters, Symons reported that DELTA Coatings has organized its service offerings into four main departments, providing more targeted and specialized services catering to each market segment:

1. Supply and solutions: As manufacturers of best-in-class protective coating and lining solutions, DELTA Coatings aims to support applicators with technical support and product supply on a customer friendly, Just-In-Time (JIT) basis.

2. Turnkey waterproofing projects: DELTA Coatings provides full turnkey waterproofing and lining project delivery solutions, also known as “supply and apply”, for major infrastructure projects managed by developers and construction contractors globally.

3. Hand applied solutions: For smaller projects or where spray equipment is not available, we offer a roll-on, hand applied range. This ready-to-use Polyurea coating product range is ideal for smaller applicator businesses, facilities management companies, and DIY self-applicators at home.

4. Equipment and training center: As a Graco spray equipment distributor, the company’s highly trained and experienced technicians provide equipment training, repairs, and on-going technical support to applicators.

DELTA Coatings prioritizes research and development, innovative product creation, and raising awareness about the superior attributes of polyurea, positioning itself to expand the global market share of polyurea-based solutions.

Currently, DELTA Coatings is showcasing two new industry-leading products as part of its growing DELTAShield product range. The first is PROSeal, a new cold cured, hand applied coating with very rapid cure times and excellent elongation to 800%.

“This dynamic product provides significant application advantages due to its speed of cure and rain resistance,” Symons said. “It can be walked on in minutes, eliminating physical damage risk from follow on trades or clean-up activities.”

The second is HP500 PW, a WRAS-certified product is designed for use in potable applications up to 85°C and is potable water approved according to BS 6920.

“Benefits include seamless application to any thickness in one application as well as fast reactivity and tack free times – from 10 seconds,” said Symons. “This is not to mention that this product facilitates a fast return to service – within 48 hours. As such, this product is ideal for potable water reservoirs, storage tanks, canals and viaducts to mention only a few.

“With polyurea becoming ‘commoditized’ as the large, multinational raw material suppliers and construction chemical companies enter the supply market, DELTA Coatings on the other hand differs in that it offers more in terms of new product development, personalized service, and ongoing technical support, not to mention industry-leading turnkey project delivery services,” Symons concluded.
