SucraSeal Spray Foam Achieves UL Approval
HOUSTON, TX - March 28, 2014 – SucraSeal™ recently achieved the Underwriters Laboratory Approval for Exterior Wall Coverings (EWS0007) in accordance with NFPA 285. SES Foam has achieved Underwriters Laboratory (UL) approval for SucraSeal spray polyurethane foam insulation in compliance with the National Fire Protection Agency Standard 285 (NFPA 285). Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is the universally accepted certification mark for electronics, lightning suppression, and fire protection. UL's mission statement states: "Working for a safer world, since 1894."
"SES continues to strive to the highest level of certification," says Charles Valentine, Chief Operating Officer of SES Foam. "UL is the best known, most respected name in certification and the fact that SucraSeal spray foam insulation meets UL requirements illustrates the SES commitment to quality and higher product qualification,"
The International Building Code (IBC) requires combustible materials within exterior wall systems to be tested to NFPA 285 for construction types I and II (non-combustible construction). For the commercial architect, it is important to verify the specified insulation complies with building codes and seeing the UL mark confirms the product is held to the highest certification requirements.
SES continues to demonstrate their commitment to higher levels of certification. SucraSeal is already recognized by the USDA Biopreferred program (at 17% bio content by ASTM D 6866); the International Code Council Evaluation Services, including passing the Appendix X test without an intumescent coating; certified by The Collaboration for High Performing Schools as a low emitting product and the United States EPA certification as an EnergyStar™ Approved Insulation. SES Foam is an approved EnergyStar™ partner and member organization of the United States Green Build Council.
About SucraSeal: SucraSeal insulation offers high-yield and an R-value of 3.8 per inch, is VOC and formaldehyde free. The SucraSeal spray foam line offers superior fire-resistance and passes the ACC 377 Appendix X test for flammability uncoated without the use of an ignition barrier. SucraSeal's patented process makes the foam fire-resistant. The fire-resistance is built into the foam itself. SucraSeal's natural and superior fire protection is less expensive to produce and install because it does not require the addition of a chemical fire barrier coating.
