Building a Brighter and More Sustainable Future with Covestro
PITTSBURGH, PA – November 17, 2015 – The demand for green building continues to grow as building and design professionals prioritize sustainable materials that contribute to building efficiency and performance. As a leading materials supplier for the building and construction industry, Covestro's vision is to make the world a brighter place with products and technologies that promote sustainability and reduce the impact on the environment.
Covestro will showcase a variety of high-performance materials and technologies that contribute to a sustainable built environment at Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, November 18-20, in Washington, D.C. Experts will be on hand at booth #3337 to discuss Covestro's polyurethanes, polycarbonates, and coatings, adhesives and sealant raw materials for more sustainable construction. Here's an early look at the show.
The building envelope creates a barrier between the interior and exterior of a building, and a well-designed building envelope is key for energy efficiency. Polyurethane insulation products provide high thermal resistance, contributing to heating and climate control in residential and commercial applications. Covestro offers a variety of polyurethane systems and technologies that boost building efficiency and strengthen structures, including spray polyurethane foam (SPF), and raw materials for rigid foam polyisocyanurate insulation boards and insulated metal panels.
Greenbuild attendees will see several real-world applications utilizing polyurethane raw materials from Covestro on display. Highlights include an impact-resistant exterior door and high-performance composite siding panels for the residential market. Windows with polyurethane composites will also be featured in the booth. The composites are used as high-performing window stiffeners and serve as an alternative to aluminum inserts because they minimize thermal transfer and are corrosion resistant.
Covestro offers an array of coatings, adhesives and sealant technologies that will be on display. Whether it's decorative concrete flooring, dry erase paint technology, roofing and waterproofing membranes or structural steel, coatings must be durable while meeting design and regulatory needs.
Covestro's adhesives are designed for specific building applications including wood flooring and roofing. Sealants for fenestration assemblies such as windows and doors seal gaps and help prevent the infiltration of air and water. Several samples within the booth will showcase these applications and more.
Polycarbonate sheets are suitable for a wide variety of applications and offer a range of important properties like strong impact resistance, great thermal stability and high transparency. Specifying polycarbonate sheet for daylighting applications – such as skylights and canopies – provides light transmission and light diffusion as well as the opportunity to create shapes not possible with glass or acrylic. Covestro experts will be available to discuss how the use of polycarbonate sheets enables a building to provide visual appeal and reduce energy costs with daylighting.
Greenbuild attendees are encouraged to stop by Covestro's booth (#3337) to learn more about Covestro's broad portfolio of materials and technologies for sustainable building.
