Coastal Finishes Up Monumental Church Project
ROSELAND, NJ - January 17, 2012- Coastal Insulation Corporation recently lent their expertise to a massive project involving the construction of a brand-new church.
The newly-completed Ss. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church rests at 80 Laurel Ave. in Roseland, New Jersey, in all its 39,000-square-foot glory. The multi-dimensional construction will serve as a nerve center for both faith and community; the infrastructure includes classrooms, residential living space, offices, a kitchen, gymnasium, and stunning domed sanctuary.
Coastal Insulation was recruited to be the insulation contractor on hand throughout the project, insulating the new church into a total building envelope that will be airtight and structurally sound for years to come.
“Spray foam was the most logical choice for this project, because it provides a faster application process while also providing the utmost in energy efficiency,” said Coastal Insulation Marketing Administrator Anzhelika Ronis.
Construction began several years ago on the project, and Coastal returned intermittently throughout the entirety of last year to apply spray foam insulation. “It’s been an ongoing project throughout the course of the year,” Ronis explained.
The three-man crew applied spray foam to all ceiling and exterior walls of the buildings, beginning in the kitchen area. Ronis said that closed-cell foam was applied on all corrugated steel frames; all wood frames, conversely, were filled with open-cell foam. The kitchen and gymnasium, for example, contained steel beams and thus received 4.25 inches of closed-cell foam. The sanctuary’s 50-foot domed ceiling, on the other hand, was built with wood framing which was filled in with 8 inches of open-cell foam.
The project was completed without a hitch and the magnificent new church is the visual manifestation of a job well done. Please visit the photo gallery to look at detailed pictures of the insulation project.
