Demilec’s Air Barrier System Earns CCMC Evaluation 14068-R
ARLINGTON, TX – October 25, 2017 – Demilec, one of the largest manufacturers of spray-applied polyurethane foam in North America, received Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) approval confirming the Heatlok Soya/PolarFoam Soya spray foam insulation meet National Building Code (NBC) of Canada 2010 and 2015 for use with select membranes and primers. Based on Evaluation 14068-R, Demilec is excited to announce it has the strongest air barrier system in the industry.
When installed per manufacturer’s instructions by a trained contractor, Heatlok Soya/PolarFoam Soya were approved for use as air barrier systems in combination with several leading manufacturers of transition membranes and primers.
“By taking an all-systems approach to materials testing and installation, Demilec is proactively working to simplify the specification process for architects and contractors looking to create air barrier systems for their projects in Canada,” said Tom Harris, Vice President for Building Science at Demilec.
According to CCMC’s evaluation report, a qualifying air barrier system must have an acceptable low air leakage rate, sufficient strength to resist the anticipated air pressure load and be continuous, durable and buildable in the field.

“Our products were tested at high pressures and wind loads, allowing them to be installed in buildings of great height across Canada. This is a first in the Canadian spray foam market, as previously all spray foam manufacturers had height restrictions. We are proud to say Demilec has the strongest air barrier system in the industry, so we can now be placed higher in buildings than other spray foam materials,” added Harris.
The Canadian Construction Materials Centre has been Canada’s official evaluation service supporting building officials and the construction industry since 1988. CCMC conducts technical evaluations of innovative non-standardized materials, products, systems and services to ensure that they meet code compliance and enforce building regulations. CCMC requires products to be re-evaluated by the agency every three years.
