EnergyWise-Specified Home Insulated From Lightning Strike Damage

COLLEGE GROVE, TN – May 17, 2012 – Coach Hill Farm is pleasantly situated on 95 acres of beautiful flat farmland. With that land comes pigs, ducks, horses, goats, gardens, two smaller guest homes, a waterfront view, and of course… lightning strikes.

The family of five was enjoying an evening at home Monday, May 7, when lightning hit, and destroyed, the chimney of their 2.6 million dollar farm home. According to Coach Hill Farm’s listing realtor, Pam Simmons, the strike set fire to the attic while the family was still inside. Everyone escaped without injury.

Simmons said volunteer fire fighters arrived on scene 15-20 minutes after the fire started. The fire marshal was confident that they were able to save the building only because the foam insulation slowed the burning.

The home has been EnergyWise-guaranteed by EnergyWise Structures for the past three years. Richard Rue, owner of EnergyWise Structures, says they do not plan to re-visit this property, after it has gone through repairs, unless contacted by the property owner. 

According to Simmons, the home is being re-wired due to lightning strike. There is some water damage, but no smoke damage.
