GBCI Launches New Online Tool for LEED Professionals
BRIELLE, NJ - February 21, 2011 - The Green Building Certification Institute has created and deployed a new web-based tool for LEED Professionals, known as the CMP Wizard. The purpose of this online utility is to provide these experts with information and resources to help them get a handle on their Certification Maintenance Program requirements, says the GBCI.
Sustainable construction is a popular and rapidly evolving segment of the construction market. Indeed, some tenets of green design are being adopted as legal or de facto standards in cities and counties around the country.
LEED, which is administered by the U.S. Green Building Council, is the most popular system of certification and assessment for green buildings. With levels ranging from LEED Certified to LEED Platinum, it effectively grades buildings on their efficiency.
The professionals who administer the program need to be kept current with the latest innovations in the industry and shifting standards, so the CMP is a vital tool for making sure that every LEED Professional is up to date.
"We created the CMP Wizard to answer questions from current LEED APs with the goal of making the GBCI credential maintenance process clear and easier to understand," said Peter Templeton, President, Green Building Certification Institute. "The CMP Wizard navigates directly to the key requirements each credential holder needs to know."
The government has taken an active and important role in promoting green building with the Better Buildings Initiative. The BBI will improve incentives that encourage builders to employ energy-saving technologies such as spray foam insulation, solar panels and LED lighting in the construction of new homes and commercial real estate.
"Green building is a critical element to a jobs creation program," added Templeton. "Professionals who are knowledgeable about green building and the LEED process are today, more than ever, being sought after by employers, clients and project teams."
