IFTI and BASF Successfully Pass Alternative Ignition and Thermal Barrier Testing
IRVINE, CA – April 22, 2015 – International Fireproof Technology Inc. (IFTI) and BASF, announced that DC315 spray-applied, fire protective coating, successfully passed NFPA 286 Room Corner Burn testing as both an alternative thermal barrier and ignition barrier over BASF products, including SPRAYTITE 178 ®, BASF SPRAYTITE 158 ®, ENERTITE NM ®, and BASF ENERTITE US ®. The certified testing was conducted over the last three months and passed at QAI Laboratories in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
"We are pleased to offer DC315 to the BASF contractors, giving them a single product for BASF's full line of SPF, as both a thermal and ignition Barrier in a single product", stated Gary Wolfe, Executive Vice President for IFTI. "IFTI leads the industry with its catalog of over 175 full-scale certified tests. DC315 is a WH-listed inspected product assuring you, the code official, and your customers that what was tested is what is being applied. Any coating company can tell you their coating will work on the foam brand you spray; it is another thing to prove it with testing. If you are not using DC315, you may not be complying with the codes!"
All tests are full scale tests and meet the applicable requirements of 2006 IBC Section 803.2.1; 2009 IBC Section 803.2.1 and Section 2603.9; 2012 IBC Section 803.2.1 and Section 2603.10 Special Approval for Thermal Barrier Alternatives. DC315 also meets the requirement as an Ignition Barrier per AC 377, Appendix X at an incredible spread rate of 400 sq. ft. per gallon, making DC315 the most cost-effective ignition and thermal barrier on the market.
DC315 is a one-coat, wet-on-wet application, waterbased latex paint that offers superior fire protection over foam. DC315 applies like regular latex paint using an airless sprayer, and being waterbased, offers easy clean up.
