InsulStar® Closed-Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation Meets Latest IBC, IRC and IECC Codes
April, 2008 - Mount Airy, NC - InsulStar, a high performance closed-cell spray polyurethane foam insulation manufactured by NCFI Polyurethanes, is in compliance with the 2006 International Building Code, International Residential Code and International Energy Conservation Code, according to a report released by the California-based nonprofit group ICC Evaluation Service, Inc (ICC-ES). This compliance includes being the only closed-cell spray foam evaluated for use in unvented attics, per the 2006 International Residential Code.

In compiling the report, ICC-ES noted that InsulStar meets the following 2006 IRC requirements:
- Allows unvented attic applications
- No additional vapor retarder normally needed
- 8 inches maximum thickness in wall assembly
- 12 inches max thickness in ceiling
- Lists R-values to the max installed thickness
- Job site certification provided for installer
- Allows exposed SPF on floors of vented attics
- Permits ignition barrier coating
In addition, InsulStar meets Florida Product Approval for roof deck wind uplift resistance, helping prevent damage during hurricanes and other high wind events.
