Maximizing Industry Excellence
SRRAY FOAM MAGAZINE – As the leading spray foam industry association, Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance’s leadership, technical committees and technical support staff are led by some of the industry’s foremost experts. The combined knowledge shared across the group is astounding and spans everything of interest surrounding spray foam. As part of SPFA’s mission, this knowledge is meant to be shared for the betterment of the industry – with members, builders, architects, legislators and code officials – and the alliance’s technical offerings are vast.
SPFA’s technical resources serve as an extension of a company’s staff, and SPFA members enjoy access to these benefits at no additional cost. SPFA’s Document Library is among the better-known resources. A vast repository of knowledge presented by topic, the library includes TechDocs, detailed documents for contractors and design professionals describing spray foam applications, and TechTips, shorter articles for installers. The full library is free to members; non-members may purchase TechDocs at www.sprayfoam.org/SPFA_techdocs.
SPFA Tech Tuesday Webinars, an educational series offered live monthly on a variety of spray foam topics are free to all. Recordings are available to SPFA members on-demand, anytime.
SPFA members benefit from the Model Written Safety Program, a pre-written OSHA-compliant program covering insulation and roofing, prescribing practices to follow for avoiding costly fines and penalties from OSHA. Contractors may adopt, personalize and use the program as their own. SPFA also offers members Toolbox Talks, another OSHA mandated activity for contractors. The 52-week program gives contractor members one Toolbox Talk to conduct with their team per week for a full year.
Additional resources focus on safety and include OSHA-compliant Jobsite Safety Signs and SPFA’s Safety Video Series, which today encompasses 21 total videos on a range of topics including: fall protection, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, containment and ventilation for SPF applications, heat illness, and more. The videos go hand-in-hand with the Model Written Safety Program; both the videos and signs are easily accessible to members.
All of SPFA’s technical offerings are facilitated by SPFA Technical Consultant Rick Duncan, PhD, PE – alongside several SPFA technical committee volunteers. Each expert dedicates a significant amount of time and energy to support SPFA members and the industry at-large. Notably, these individuals and the resources they provide whether TechDocs, dedicated webinars, safety programs, or others – are also extending best practices guidance, critical knowledge, and SPF benefits information to key decision makers that directly influence the SPF industry. These leaders include architects, builders, legislators and code officials.
The impact of this collective effort to provide key technical guidance within the SPF industry cannot be overstated. I join SPFA’s leadership, board and members in thanking each of the individuals involved for their time and effort!
