Open Cell Spray Foam Passes Ignition Barrier Test (DONT POST)
IRVINE, CA – September 19, 2011 – International Fireproof Technology, Inc. recently ran an AC377 Appendix X test with DC-135 Fireproof Paint over CertainTeed’s .5 lb CertaSpray open cell spray polyurethane foam.
According to IFTI, the certified ignition barrier test was performed at Intertek’s San Antonio facility where DC-315 passed at an industry best spread rate of 400 square feet per gallon.
DC 315 is now considered to be a code-compliant ignition barrier option for contractors using Certaspray half-pound foam.
By using a tip size of .517, the coating can now be applied at a thickness of only 4 mils wet or 3 mils dry, making DC 315 the most cost effective ignition barrier option on the market, according to an IFTI press release.
“We are ecstatic,” said Gary Wolfe, Executive VP for International Fireproof Technology, Inc. “Passing Certaspray at 400 square feet per gallon is amazing. CertainTeed is our second foam manufacturer partner to pass at this industry best spread rate. We are really looking forward to working closely with CertainTeed and providing them cutting edge fire protection for their full line of foam products.”
