Spray Foam Magazine – Show Issue 2025 – Candace Lord, Vice President of The Green Cocoon, is a powerhouse among her colleagues in the spray foam industry, but to her Massachusetts community, she’s known as “The Insulation Lady.” The moniker reflects more than just her choice of career—it’s a testament to the reputation she’s built over 13 years. Her approach goes beyond offering services; she strives to educate and empower everyone she meets.

Lord’s philosophy prioritizes sustainable progress over rapid results. She’s a firm believer that genuine, thoughtful work leaves a deeper impact than simply rushing to the next project. She’s also a major proponent of sharing knowledge learned on the job, and not keeping secrets from her colleagues for the sake of getting ahead. By cultivating this mindset in herself, Lord hopes to strengthen not only her own team, but to uplift the entire industry.

The Green Cocoon’s employees receive regular training on topics running from safety to building science. The company’s investment in their employees exceeds education, with a profit-sharing program and other stellar benefits. Lord believes that when employees thrive, the business flourishes. To that end, The Green Cocoon has earned acclaim for projects like insulating Boston’s first energy-positive building and are well-known for their work in the local passive home industry.

Lord’s extensive knowledge and willingness to share it have made her a sought-after speaker. In 2025, she’ll lead two breakout sessions at the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) Convention in Daytona Beach– her third year presenting in a row. This year, Lord became an SPFA Certified Project Manager, the second person in her company to do so. She plans to pursue a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Certification in the coming year.

Strength is a defining attribute of Lord’s character, both professionally and personally. As a cancer survivor and mother of two, she embodies resilience daily, and for the last decade, she’s trained as a professional powerlifter and bodybuilder. Her strength training once came into play in a dramatic moment on the job when she saved a colleague from falling through an attic floor—an incident that reinforced her belief in the importance of preparedness and positivity, even in the most unexpected situations.
