Polyurethane Industry Comes Together In North Carolina
CHARLOTTE, NC – June 5, 2014 – The polyurethanes industry has gathered in North Carolina for the 2014 UTECH North America Conference & Trade Show, and SprayFoam.com is on site covering the action. Regarded as one of the premier events for the polyurethanes industry, the conference provides a forum for specialists in numerous polyurethane fields to share their knowledge of their expertise. Additionally, the trade show provides a unique opportunity for thousands of exhibitors to showcase the latest polyurethane advancements. The ongoing two-day event, which runs through June 6, is taking place at the Charlotte Convention Center in downtown Charlotte.
The conference commenced with an opening presentation by Mark Bassett, Global Vice President, Polyurethanes at the Dow Chemical Company USA, entitled "A World of Change, A World of Opportunity." Bassett discussed shifting markets and the influence of polyurethanes in the areas of energy efficiency, technological innovation, and sustainability.
The conference itself is taking place along side the trade show within the Convention Center, where presentations comprised of over 40 technical papers are being delivered to UTECH attendees by individual speakers. These presentations constitute nine separate sessions that run throughout both days of the event. These sessions cover the latest trends and developments in every sector of the polyurethane industry, including developments in rigid and flexible foams, automotive products, and CASE materials. Key topics such as developments in chemistry and equipment, as well as innovations in sustainability and general processing improvements are being highlighted.
Among the companies covering these topics at UTECH is Graco Inc. They discussed the benefits and capabilities of Graco InSite, a remote reporting technology used for Graco Reactor proportioners that are utilized in spray polyurethane foam and polyurea applications. Other major companies such as Honeywell also made their presence known at UTECH. They presented and exhibited their Solstice Liquid-Blowing Agent technology, which is used primarily in spray foam roofing and insulation applications.
As the conference sessions proceed, UTECH attendees can browse the trade floor, where an array of over 100 exhibitors have featured cutting-edge polyurethane technologies. Among the many exhibitor booths on site, NCFI Polyurethanes is the lone SPF systems house, showcasing its line of polyurethane systems, application equipment, and technical service. Dow is also highlighting its latest polyurethane solutions on the UTECH trade floor, exhibiting a variety of products used in a multitude of applications. Dow's featured products include coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers.
As the event comes to a close, attendees from all over the world that made the trip to Charlotte are certain to leave the conference having developed new contacts and opportunities, and with a greater understanding of a growing polyurethane market that has undeniably improved the quality of life of the world at large.
