SES' Spray Polyurethane Foam Achieves Underwriters Laboratory Approval for Exterior Wall Coverings
HOUSTON, TX – March 10, 2015 – SES Foam has achieved Underwriters Laboratory (UL) approval for SES 2 lb. spray polyurethane foam insulation in compliance with the National Fire Protection Agency Standard 285 (NFPA 285). Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is the universally accepted certification mark for electronics, lightning suppression, and fire protection. UL's mission statement states: "Working for a safer world, since 1894."
In addition to UL certification, SES 2 lb. spray foam has achieved IAPMO Uniform Evaluation Services approval. IAPMO's Uniform Evaluation Service is a highly trusted provider of independent third party product reviews.
"Once again SES shows its commitment to product certification and testing," says Charles Valentine, Chief Operating Officer of SES Foam. "UL is the best known, most respected name in certification and the fact that SES 2 lb. spray foam insulation meets UL requirements illustrates the SES commitment to quality and higher product certification. IAPMO approval continues to demonstrate to code officials, architects, and builders a high standard of quality. The fact that SES 2 lb. spray foam meets their stringent requirements for quality, consistency and code compliance further illustrates SES's commitment to product quality and certification."
"This is the best 2 lb. spray foam I have ever sprayed or ever seen sprayed," says Scott Luesse, Head Technical Liaison of SES Foam. "The processing window, the yield and the fact that you don't have drum head pressure issues sell itself. The fact that you can heat the material across the proportioner preheaters and ship material in disposable totes is a real game changer for contractors."
"The fact that SES 2 lb. spray foam passes the AC377 Appendix X without an ignition barrier or costly, time consuming intumescent coating saves contractors time and money," adds Wally Scoggins, Chief Executive Officer of SES Foam. "And that's our bottom line, making contractors successful and profitable. It's our company mantra; we will always look for the win-win."
The International Building Code (IBC) requires combustible materials within exterior wall systems to be tested to NFPA 285 for construction types I and II (non-combustible construction). For the commercial architect it is important to verify the specified insulation complies with building codes and seeing the UL mark confirms the product is held to the highest certification requirements. IAPMO Uniform Services is a highly trusted name in building product evaluations. IAPMO Uniform Evaluation Reports are trusted by code officials, architects, builders and home owners alike.
SES continues to demonstrate their commitment to higher levels of certification. SES Foam is an approved EnergyStar™ partner and member organization of the United States Green Build Council.
