Spray Foam Manufacturing Company Gains WBENC Certification
FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas (Aug. 24, 2010) – BioBased Technologies® has been certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council as a Women’s Business Enterprise.
WBENC is the leading authority on and certifying organization for women’s business enterprises in the U.S. and its territories. The third-party certification means that BioBased Technologies® is at least 51% owned, controlled, operated and managed by a woman or women.
BioBased Technologies® completed its Chapter 11 reorganization earlier this year when a private, female investor recapitalized the company. Following the recapitalization, Amy Sorrell was named chief executive officer for the company.
“This certification gives us the ability to compete for business opportunities from corporations and government entities that are looking for women-owned businesses to provide natural-oil polyols or insulation products,” Sorrell said. “We are sure the WBE certification will open up new markets for our products and benefit many of our customers.”
BioBased Technologies® markets two product lines: Agrol®, bio-based polyols for the manufacturing industry; and BioBased Insulation®, spray polyurethane insulation and sealants for the construction industry.
Agrol® polyols have 96% bio-content based on industry-standard tests and are used to in a variety of polyurethane products including carpet backing and padding, spray foam insulation and flexible seat foam. Environmentally-conscious manufacturers can decrease their use of petroleum-based polyols by incorporating Agrol®.
In comparison to petroleum-based polyols, Agrol® polyols have lower VOCs and result in a carbon benefit to the environment. Five and one-half pounds of carbon dioxide equivalents are removed or prevented from entering the atmosphere for every pound of Agrol® that replaces a pound of petroleum-based polyols.
BioBased Insulation® helps decrease the environmental impact of buildings by sealing and insulating in one step, increasing a building’s energy efficiency and decreasing its carbon footprint. Many of the BioBased Insulation® products integrate renewable ingredients, including Agrol®, and have attained third-party certifications such as being ICC Rated, GREENGUARD Certified for Children and Schools and BRE Certified.
BioBased Technologies® is based in Fayetteville, Ark., with manufacturing facilities in Georgia and Arkansas. For more information about the products available from BioBased Technologies® visit www.biobasedtechnologies.com.
