Spray Foam’s Role in Reducing Military Energy Consumption Presented by Huntsman

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS - June 13, 2011 - Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) announced today it will be presenting an educational discussion on the role that spray polyurethane foam (SPF) plays in creating an air tight barrier and reducing military energy consumption at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) 2011 Infrastructure Systems Conference.

The theme of this year’s conference is "Quality Design and Construction for a Stronger Future." This theme was chosen to highlight USACE’s commitment to ensuring the highest possible quality in all projects designed and constructed by them. Huntsman’s presentation titled, Improving Building Energy Efficiencies with Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) ties into this theme. It will be featured in the event’s Architecture Conference Track on Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. EST.

Spray foam insulation can increase air tightness and help decrease air infiltration, moisture and even sound in military, commercial and residential buildings. Specifically, it helps military installations meet the latest air barrier building requirements mandated by the USACE for new and renovation construction projects.

“Huntsman is honored to participate at the USACE 2011 Infrastructure Systems Conference,” said Monica Karamagi, regional marketing and industry affairs manager for Huntsman Polyurethanes. “SPF has already delivered positive results at military installations here and abroad. Huntsman is pleased to play a part in keeping our troops comfortable, and helping the military meet its stringent requirements to reduce energy consumption.”

This presentation, delivered by Jason Smith, market development specialist, Huntsman Polyurethanes, will discuss the role SPF plays in creating an airtight barrier around a building envelope, and how SPF impacts a building’s overall energy efficiency.

To give attendees a first-hand look at how SPF is used in the field, Huntsman’s booth at the show (#151) will feature wall and roof sections with open and closed cell SPF. Additionally, the Huntsman booth will feature free copies of its recently published white paper titled, Military Standards and Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation.
