SprayFoam.com Founder Takes on New Role for Polyurea Supplier

KANSAS CITY, KS–September 26, 2012–Doug Commette, one of the spray foam industry’s leading marketing executives and founder of SprayFoam.com and Polyurea.com, has announced he will be joining VersaFlex, Inc. as their new Director of Marketing. VersaFlex Inc, is headquartered in Kansas City, Kansas and is a leading formulator and manufacturer of protective coatings, liners and sealants.

Back in July 2012, Sector Media Strategies, LLC purchased Polyurea.com from Commette. Sector Media Strategies, LLC is a new media company backed by VersaFlex to promote polyurea coatings and linings technology to various target industries.

According to David Cerchie, President of VersaFlex, “We are very excited to have such an accomplished marketing executive like Doug join us. We see so many opportunities for growth by utilizing many of the Internet marketing programs Doug has developed over the last decade. Many of these programs have already started to produce new business for us in just a very short period of time.”

Doug Commette is a long time polyurea and spray foam industry veteran. Commette started his career with Gusmer Corporation in 1988. Gusmer was the world’s leading supplier of spray foam and polyurea application equipment. In late 1995, Doug was appointed to the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In this capacity, Doug oversaw all of the global sales, distribution and marketing functions of the company. In January of 1998, Doug was appointed to the position of President for Gusmer Corporation.

During Doug’s time at Gusmer, he was active in developing and launching many successful equipment products still in use today such as the H-20/35, GX-8 and GAP Spray Guns, as well as their Mobile Spray Rig and Trailer division.

Doug was also an active member of the American Plastics Council’s Alliance for Polyurethanes Industry (API) and their Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) divisions. Here he participated on the Industry Promotion Committee and held elected terms on the SPFA’s Management Committee. Doug was also a long time member on the API’s Conference Planning Committee and was appointed Chairman for their 1999 Polyurethanes Conference Planning Committee. As conference chairman; Doug led the CPI’s Orlando conference to one of the highest attendance rates in their history.

Commette was Gusmer’s President until 2001 when he resigned to start Spray Foam.com and Polyurea.com. Gusmer was purchased by Graco, Inc. shortly thereafter for $65 million.

Commette was extremely instrumental in the development and growth of the polyurea industry in the early 1990’s. He was one of the founding directors of the Polyurea Development Association, served as the Chairman of PDA’s Marketing Committee and co-developed and instructed their acclaimed Polyurea Applicator School with Dudley J. Primeaux, II for many years.

In his new role at VersaFlex, Commette will be responsible for strategic marketing planning and implementation across all major divisions and polyurea markets. Commette will initially assist in the transition of Polyurea.com into Sector Media Strategies LLC. His ultimate goals will be to implement new global sales and marketing programs and kick off a stronger Internet marketing and industry growth campaign for polyurea technology in general.

Commette has since resigned from his current post as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of SprayFoam.com and Spray Foam Insulation & Roofing Magazine. This role has been succeeded by Ryan Spencer.

In June 2011, SprayFoam.com celebrated its 10th year anniversary with record year after year traffic and commerce growth.

More recently, Commette also founded Spray Foam Insulation & Roofing Magazine, the first of its kind, in that it is 100% digital and always available online. The magazine has over 19,500 individual readers with penetration in over 125 different countries and is the first publication ever in the SPF industry to offer mobile Apps for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

Doug was also the proud creator of SprayFoamLocal.com and SprayFoamLeads.com, an Internet website and marketing program targeted at helping spray foam contractors and suppliers generate qualified sales leads and new business.
