Best adhesion of closed cell
We are bidding on a large project, where they are taking heating units, and turning them into cooling towers also. The problem is they are getting thermal bridging. With heat, it does not affect them, but with cooling they will get condensation. So we are going to insulate the floors and sidewalls. Problem is the sidewalls are coated with oil residue. We thought we could screw a thin sheet of Fan-Fold insulation to it, and spray to this. Should pretty easy application then. We spray several companies foam, but wonder what which would have the best adhesion. Should we maybe wonder about a roofing foam. Only putting on about 1.5"

You need to remove the oil residue if spraying to the side walls directly. Installing sheathing to the wall will provide a substrate that the foam will adhere to. I am not familiar with one foam having greater adhesion than another. But, there are adhesive primers that can help. Ask you foam supplier to recommend what would work best in your situation. |
