Can I spray foam a block wall basement?
I am in the middle of finishing a basement. The rest of the house has been insulated with spray foam. My basement walls are block walls. They are slightly damp in places probably due to grading issues that are being addressed. Foundation "experts" and building inspectors have said not to insulate at all below grade to allow the walls to breath, and that if I spray foam the walls they won't be able to breathe or heat up to let any moisture to evaporate. Other opinions have said that the spray foam will prevent any moisture from ever entering the home. I'm considering using 2" of cc foam. Thanks. JLA

Get the walls dry and apply 1.5 or 2" of closed cell. You will like it. "Foundation experts" generally do not understand spray foam. regards, |
