The SPF industry recommends nonvented attics and cathedral ceilings when using SPF to the underside of roof decks. The small space between the drywall and the foam should not condense so long as there is sufficient thickness of foam to separate the inside and outside temperature. It does matter that you are in Nova Scotia. In colder climates, open cell foam will require a vapor retarder element to reduce the amount of moisture into the foam. Check with your supplier for their recommendations and ask for a hygrothermal modeling study performed for your region on the proposed design. |
