As a contractor we pay a small % on each set that I buy. The money goes towards running the organization, paying for conventions, dealing with Canadian code officials, helping to get spray foam issues resolved with building departments and the government. They have also helped fund some research projects. They monitor the quality of the foam installed on large projects and also act as a liason if there are customer concerns or product issues. CUFCA has also established an extensive training and certification program. Many Canadian commercial projects are now specifying CUFCA membership. visit www.cufca.ca As far as SPFA maybe somebody else can fill you in on that.

Although there are many members who belong to both. Also don't forget the Air Barriers Association who provide certification for air barrier systems applications. They are run by the same group as CUFCA (Building Professionals Consortium) headed by Laverne Dalgleish. All organizations participate in code and regulatory activity, promulgate research, provide educational courses. SPFA has an Accreditation program that entails 4-6 courses plus inspections to become fully accredited.
