exposed foam
Mr. Knowles

We shot some foam on Saturday May 26th and planned on installing the base coat on Sunday. There was little chance of rain for several days but it has rained starting late Saturday up until June 1st.

What do I need to do to insure the coatings will adhere to the spf? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Travis

It depends on a couple things.

Amount of sunlight will have a bearing. What type of foam is also important. VFI's 730 foam will withstand 10-15 days of exposure without compromising adhesion (according to them). We have tested this aspect and been satisfied.

To be safe, you could grind the skin or prime the foam.

Five days is definitely in the danger zone. You probably need at least an ahesive primer to ensure proper adhesion. Check with your foam supplier for their specific recommendation and make sure you are talking to their technical staff and get it in writing. Blisters can occur when foam is left exposed for over 48 hours. After five days it is very common to have blisters if the foam is not treated.
