Exterior Hardening of Buildings 6LB closed cell
Opportunities in South Florida for hardening of buildings. Could a closed cell foam say 6LB be applied to exterior of a building to make it stronger and protect it from flying debris?

6# is rather excessive.
2.5-3lb with a coating should be sufficient.

2-3lb to absorb the force like with a pad on a gym floor but harder and doesn't rebound. Cover that with a good polyurea to reduce the risk of penetration and you should be good.

What docs would be good to document just the specs of the product??

2.5inches of two pound closed cell in a standard 2x4 wall will pass the 100mph 2x4 test for huricane requirments

I have experimented with 6 lb sprayfoam on exterior applications. The foam has excellent compressive strength, but lacks flexibility. Consequently, it tends to crack under thermal shock and structural movement.

A few manufacturers make a slightly higher density foam 3.5 -4.0 lb that is used in hail belt areas. I would recommend that material for increased protection against flying debris.
