Grounding your rig
I'm in the process of building a new spf rig. I will use shore power until I can afford a generator. How are you guys grounding your rigs? Being 100' or more away from a power source makes it like you are out on a island. If something were to short it could cause a problem. The generators I have seen are just grounded to their frame. For me this does not seem good enough. I know it is temporary but this is a lot of electricity. In the past I have used a 12"x12" metal plate, parked the rig tire on top of it and connected a ground lead from the trailer elec box to it. Does anyone else ground their rigs? How do you do it? Is it necessary? |

Realize this is a very old post but this is a good question that we have also had for awhile now. Does anyone have any insight? How about the rig builders out there? How do we ensure our rigs are properly grounded if they are grounded to the frame yet sat on rubber tires? Thanks in advance! |
