HVAC Ventilation and SPF
I know that a ventilatin system is required in a home insulated with SPF. Is the purpose to maintain fresh air in the home? If so, would an air purification system accompish the same task? Recently, an HVAC contractor recommended that instead of a costly ERV, I should use a air purifier. Would this be a big NO NO? If so, then why?thanks, |

I don't think air purification systems can take out all of the potential contaminants that are likely to be in a house. I guess it would depend on the type of contaminants, for example, it would be not be good against formaldehyde, paint fumes (or other VOCS)and I doubt it is as healthy as bring outside air in that has been conditioned and filtered. Of course that would depend on how healthy the outside air is. (smog, pollen, smoke, etc) |
