Kneewalls in a cape cod home
Hey guys any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated. I have a cape cod home and the entire front has a knee wall. When i apply faom should i use closed or open cell? Second should i spray the back of knee wall the sheetrock side? Can i spray the under sideing of the roof too while i am in the knee wall. And would the spray foam act as thermal barrier too?

Thanks

Dino,

The foam is not a thermal barrier and requires an ignition barrier in attics and crawl spaces or a thermal barrier in inhabited areas.

The sprayfoam will be most effective when placed against the substrate directly in contact with the exterior environment, thereby separating the outside from the inside environment.

For information about low density and medium density SPF go to my website, masonknowles.com and download my article "Learning the Difference Between 1/2 lb and 2 lb density SPF."

Good Luck with your project.
