New Log Home Construction
Our new 2700 sf log home has R38 roof insulation - 3 layers of the 2" foam sheets with aluminum facing. All the walls have nothingat all for insulation. I've read that most heat loss is thru the roof. I am seriously considering putting up 2x4 stud walls throughout the log home, so I can spray open cell foam, and then sheet rock over that. Is this not worth the effort due to most heat loss going thru the roof? My cost is just my own spraying labor and a set of .5 OC foam. Thank you.

I agree that it would be more energy efficient to insulate the roof and/or the basement sill plate (if you have basement). Adding more insulation to the walls without addressing the roof or basement would not be very cost effective.
