Painting Urethane Foam
Our application requires us to apply a military CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) paint to polyurethane. Our first attempt was not adequately adhered to pass the hot and cold environment testing at the military test sight in Yuma, AZ.Any thoughts out there as to what we could do to improve paint adhesion? |

Primer, my boy. Primer. What kind of paint is the stuff you are using? (Meaning what base is it - solvent, water, epoxy..). Techno Adhesives #199 primer or Sherwin Williams Seal Crete are good choices. gcw |

Does a general purpose polyurea fit the bill? |

Polyurea should be sufficient. Find out what chemicals the coating needs to resists and call the polyurea manufacturer and get a data sheet from them that approves their coating. Everybody will be happy then. gcw |

AaronB, I might be traveling up near you (across the border in cheese land) to do some training with Polyurea. You may be interested in going if you are still green. It's free. Email me if interested at mcciroofs@charter.net |
