My question is i have a customer that just had their house sprayed by another contractor. 90% of the job has 1& 1 3/4 of foam or more. but 10% has shallow spots how much will this effect the foam? I am wanting to know because they want me to spray them spots. its going to cost so i didn't want to do something unnecessary.I was in the building at the hottest part of the day,no ac on 85 to 90 outside and only 65 to 70 inside. So I think the foam is doing its job.

The foam may be doing its job energywise (dependent on the extremes in temperature for the area), but there are other considerations. Legally, the contractor is required to provide a minimum coverage. If the contract does not specifically say what that minimum should be, the industry standard best practice is to within a 1.4 inch for closed cell and within a .5 inch for open cell foam. Another factor would be what is the minimum amount to prevent condensation? It would depend on the climate. If the area gets very cold in winter, condensation may occur on the surface of the foam in the low spots. The last would be what is the minimum required for code compliance? Is the homeowner going to have a problem with an inspection later on if the foam does not meet with local code approval? |
