Termites
Do termites like foam or will they go through anything to get to wood?Why aren't the manufacturers trying to put boric acid in their mixtures? Would this change the dynamics of the foam Mason? Of course I am only speaking about roofing foam, but what about wall foam also? |

Termites are not attracted to foam but they can burrow through it to get from one side to another. Some manufacturers have tested their foam for termite resistance and have results that can help you. (NCFI for one and there are probably others.) The first research done on SPF and termites was done by Dupont in the 60s. They buried foam samples in the ground for 10 years along side of wood panels (in Houston) The wood after 10 years was riddled with termites, the foam had some termite damage on the edges but not on the interior. |

spray foam has no food value so thats why the bugs don't seem to eat it, but they will eat through it if food is on the other side. they don't put boric into the spray foam because of the risks of acute or chronic illness from ingestion. |
