| Comments | Hi, I am considering spray foam for insulating the joist space between two floors in a single family home. The primary purpose is for acoustical insulation and as such we are looking for an open cel foam as I understand it has better acoustical absorption and can be cheaper than closed cel spray foam. The room area is between 1100 and 1500 square feet, depending on how many rooms are sprayed because there are some rooms we are only going to insulate if the cost is low enough. A per room breakdown with room sizes is below. All areas are basically rectangular except for the hallway, which has 3 turns. There is a 2x4 ceiling grid throughout the suite, which mostly without tile in the large main basement room (labeled as kitchen/living/dining), but otherwise installed in most of the basement suite.
